For the landscape design for this home in Dallas, Texas, homeowners wanted a landscape design that would continue the level of sophistication from the interiors of their home. It was important to the client, that their place be a clean-lined and cohesive design.
The backyard pool, terrace, and landscape mimics the minimalist and modern design of the interiors. Planting of native grasses combined with structural agaves help to create a sense of balance between the natural landscape of the site and the crisp modern design of the house. By playing off the clean-lined, contemporary architecture and keeping a predominately neutral palette, Matthew Murrey Design has created a landscape that fuses nature and sophisticated modern design with high end, sustainable materials.
The main axis of the house is maintained from the motor court to the pool and feature wall located at the back of the property.
A covered outdoor kitchen and seating area with granite bar, stainless steel appliances, and modern fireplace provide an intimate area to gather with friends, entertain, and cook.
True to the minimalist standards of the project, concrete was used as the only paving material. Even the pool coping was designed as a monolithic concrete pour to maintain this vision.
