Project name:

BEVERLY DRIVE

Project description:

This project had a multitude of design challenges that we had to work through and overcome, but there were two that really stood out. First, there was approximately 5 ft of grade change from the street up to the front door. We designed a series of terraces, steps, and retaining walls to smoothly compensate for the grade change. Second, the front door was tucked back into the house about 30 ft from the front edge of the residence. It was invisible from the street and it was concerning of how one might find their way to the door and appreciate the experience of getting there. The final terrace in the series that was used to compensate for the grade change was designed to draw visitors right into the front door. You walk up, centered on a fountain, and then to the right is the door, also centered on the fountain. It turned out to be a great connector and guests comfortably arrive at the home knowing exactly where to go.
